Criminal record certificate
How do I submit a criminal record certificate?
With Right Person, the process is digital from start to finish. The organisation invites the candidate via email or SMS. The candidate logs in with BankID, signs the purpose letter and sends the application directly to the Norwegian police via Digipost. The certificate is returned digitally — you don't upload it, and it's never stored in Right Person. The entire flow typically takes 2–3 minutes for the candidate and a few days for the police to process.
If the candidate is submitting a criminal record certificate the traditional way without Right Person, the club or employer must issue a purpose letter that the candidate attaches to the application on politiet.no or via the post office. The candidate then presents the certificate to the employer — the certificate itself should not be stored centrally.
What do I do if I can't find my valid criminal record certificate?
The criminal record certificate is kept by you as an individual, not by your employer. If you received it digitally via Digipost, you'll find it there. If you've lost a paper copy, you must apply again — the Norwegian police do not reissue the same certificate, but you can always request a new one. Remember that the certificate must be dated within the last 3 months for new hires.
If you're unsure whether your certificate is still valid, contact the organisation that originally requested it. The rule is: if you have the same role and the same responsibilities as when the certificate was issued, it remains valid.
What are our different background checks?
Right Person offers nine types of checks that can be ordered individually or in Bundles: identity verification (via BankID), employment history, verification of education, criminal record certificate, open source search, credit check, business interests, country affiliation check, and specific source search.
The three Bundles — Basic, Enhanced and Comprehensive — are predefined combinations for typical recruitment needs. See the overview of all checks for details on what each one covers.
Using Right Person
How do I log in to Right Person?
Go to rightperson.com/login and log in with the email you used when registering. Had an account with Manymore before? The same email still works — we've preserved all customers and history through the rebrand.
What do the statuses on the background check mean?
The status shows how far a check has progressed. Typical values:
- Invitation sent — the candidate has received a link but hasn't started yet.
- In progress — the candidate has logged in and is working on the application.
- Awaiting external source — we're waiting for a response from the Norwegian police, the diploma portal, a previous employer or similar.
- Completed — the report is ready and available in the dashboard.
- Cancelled — the candidate has withdrawn or consent has expired.
If a check remains on "Awaiting" for a long time, it's often the police's processing time that's the bottleneck. Right Person follows up automatically and notifies you when something is missing.
Can I import candidates from Excel?
Yes. In the list view on the dashboard, you'll find "Import" where you can upload an Excel or CSV file with names, email addresses, phone numbers and job information. Right Person sends invitations to all candidates in the same workflow — useful when a sports club or organisation needs to handle an entire season at once.
If you have a large number of candidates, or use HR systems like Talentech or Grade Jobbnorge, it's often easier to connect the systems directly via an integration — see integrations.
How do I get started with e-signature?
E-signature is available as part of Right Person and can be activated from the dashboard. You upload a PDF, mark where it should be signed, and send it to the recipient — who signs with BankID. The signed document is returned with a complete audit log.
